Butterfly

This vector illustration is part of my Digital Arts Capstone project. It was used as an image for the puzzle pieces I 3D modeled in Maya.
For this project, I knew that I wanted to use a butterfly image because butterflies represent drastic transformation or change. Over the past year, I've went through a drastic change, trying to figure out who I am and trying to process my thoughts and emotions.
I found an image of the butterfly from Pexels and used it as my reference photo. Then, I've uploaded the photo in Adobe Illustrator and used the vector tool to create vector shapes. After I was done with creating the illustration, I exported as a PNG.
I uploaded the PNG image to Maya Autodesk as a file (projectile) in Hypershade and assign the texture on the puzzle pieces. After assigning the texture, I applied planar mapping, changed the direction to (270, 0, 0), and resized the image. The final result is shown in the last photo in the scene.
